How many guests can The Mark Twain host?
40 guests sleep on-site across 18 bedrooms. Event capacity for daytime and evening events (with day guests beyond the overnight count) is 80-100 depending on format. For larger events, pair with Fitzgerald, Hemingway, or book the full Three Authors compound.
Are there venue fees?
No venue fee — ever. You pay the estate rental rate and everything is included. Bring any caterer, photographer, DJ, florist, or planner you choose. No exclusivity contracts, no preferred-vendor markups.
Can we use the catering kitchen?
Yes — the catering kitchen is purpose-built for events. Four refrigerators, full prep counters, dual sinks, multiple ovens. Designed for the chefs and caterers who run weddings of 40 and corporate dinners of 80.
How does the event floor work?
The entire Level 2 of the Mark Twain is the event floor — open-plan with the baby grand piano at one end, dining tables for 40 in the center, and a wraparound deck overlooking the Atlantic. Used for ceremonies, receptions, presentations, and large dinners.
How do guests reach the property?
The Mark Twain sits 2.2 miles past the end of pavement on Corolla's 4×4 beach. An AWD or 4WD vehicle is required, with tire pressure dropped before driving on the sand. We send detailed arrival instructions and the gate code one week before check-in.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in: 4:00 PM via smart lock. Check-out: 10:00 AM. Three-night minimum stay. A property concierge is available throughout your stay by text or call.
How far in advance should we book?
For peak season (June-August) and graduation weekends (May-July), book 6-12 months in advance. Holiday weekends require 12+ months. The Mark Twain books faster than the other estates due to its event capacity.
