The Fitzgerald is the most refined of the three — purpose-built for weddings. It is the only Three Authors estate with a dedicated Bridal Suite (whirlpool included), and it has the largest private cinema at 20 seats. The stone fireplace great room is the most photographed indoor space across all three estates.
How many guests can The Fitzgerald host?
30 guests sleep on-site across 14 bedrooms. Event capacity for daytime and evening events (with day guests beyond the overnight count) is 80 depending on format. For larger weddings, pair with The Hemingway as the OBX Wedding Compound (62 guests) or book the full Three Authors compound (102 guests).
Are there venue fees?
No venue fee — ever. You pay the estate rental rate and everything is included: the cinema, the Bridal Suite, the stone fireplace great room, the pool, the elevator. Bring any caterer, photographer, DJ, florist, or planner you choose.
Can the Bridal Suite be reserved separately?
The Bridal Suite is included with the estate rental. It is the largest bedroom suite at The Fitzgerald with a private whirlpool — designed for the wedding morning. We do not rent the suite separately; it is yours for the duration of your booking.
How does the wedding ceremony work?
Ceremonies happen on the wild Corolla beach directly outside the estate. Our concierge coordinates beach setup, chair rentals, and arch placement. The stone fireplace great room serves as a backup ceremony space. Wild Spanish mustangs are commonly seen on the beach.
How do guests reach the property?
The Fitzgerald sits on Corolla's 4×4 beach. An AWD or 4WD vehicle is required, with tire pressure dropped before driving on the sand. We send detailed arrival instructions and the gate code one week before check-in.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in: 4:00 PM via smart lock. Check-out: 10:00 AM. Three-night minimum stay. A property concierge is available throughout your stay by text or call.
How far in advance should we book?
For peak wedding season (May-October), book 9-15 months in advance. The Fitzgerald is the most-booked single estate for weddings — Saturdays in June and September fill 12+ months ahead.
